How to Succeed in Affiliate Marketing
All of us in the affiliate marketing field have that hopeful vision of making it big and taking home those giant commissions. But achieving that kind of success requires more than simply having an attractive website with affiliate advertising on it.
Other sources must be used in order to reach those big commission checks which we're all after. They include things such as mailing lists and pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns. The problem is that many newcomers to affiliate marking just aren't ready for those things yet.
The good news is that there are quite a few free and easy things you can do to hit your affiliate marking goals. What are some of those things?
First of all, you should clean up your website. Make sure your website is neat, clean and crisp. Be extra sure that it is very easy to navigate and that every page has a link to every other page. Also, don't forget that visitors to your website are there to get information, not exceedingly large text, fancy graphics or obnoxious colors.
Your website should be organized in such a way that it makes sense to the visitor. The affiliate ads on a page should relate to the content of that page.
Another big move you can make is to have some of your pages devoted entirely to the promotion of a product or service instead of just using the affiliate's ad. You can write your own promotional content with strategically placed links to the affiliate.
Consider advertising yourself with Google Adwords. It's not free but you would only pay when someone clicks on your ad. It's an extremely fast way to get visitors to your site. Just make sure to track your ad campaign so you won't be wasting your time and money. You may also consider advertising on other's websites that have a lot of traffic.
The most effective way by far to get traffic to your site is the search engines. Someone goes to Google, Yahoo, MSN or any of the other major search engines and types in some keywords. They're then shown a listing of relevant web pages. Your job is to be ranked as high as possible on that listing. This is done by writing quality content using those keywords for which the visitor has typed. You want to make sure your website's content is up to date and useful. Most important of all, be sure to have content on your site that is relevant to what your potential visitor is searching for.
